Owning a house

Deeds, the sign, and who may come in

The architect in the cottage on Bramblewick’s south lane sells house deeds. Double-click a deed in your pack, then click where the house should stand: open, level ground outside town, clear of trees, roads and other buildings. The deed is spent when the house goes up, and the house is yours. An account keeps one house at a time.

The sign

A house hangs a sign beside its front door. Double-click it for the house panel: add co-owners and friends by clicking them or typing a name, lock things down, secure containers, give the house away, or take it down and get the deed back.

Who may do what

The owner does everything, and nobody can remove them. Co-owners add and remove friends and lock things down. Friends come and go through the doors. The doors open for these three and stay locked to everyone else.

Anything left loose on the floor decays the way it would outside. Lock down what you mean to keep: a locked-down thing cannot be moved by anyone and never decays. A secure container opens only for the people you choose (the owner alone, co-owners, or friends too), and nobody else can even look inside.

A stranger standing inside a house is trespassing: its owner, co-owners and friends see them grey and may attack them without committing a crime, until the moment they step outside.
